Description: Incumbent administers the Indian Mineral Program within the District. Works with designated representatives from the various Tribal groups as well as various governmental groups including but not limited to the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the Office of Natural Resources and Revenue (ONNR), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), etc. The incumbent reviews exploration or development operating plans for adequacy on mineral leases, sales and mining operations. Participates in or leads interdisciplinary team projects for minerals related actions, such as the development of environmental documents for the purpose of evaluating applications for free use permits, material sales, oil and gas leasing, geothermal resource leasing, exploration and development drilling, and mining plans of operations. Provides written and/or oral assistance to the public on questions concerning the laws, regulations, and policy governing all aspects of mineral resources on public lands.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of a wide variety of laws, regulations, executive orders and directives applicable to administer the office’s mineral programs. 2. Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations. 3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to prepare clear, concise reports with professional quality.
