Title: Environmental Scientist
Location: Glendale
Description: Duties: Under close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) and the Climate Change Program Manager, the incumbent will assist with the development of analytical approaches and evaluations of climate change impacts to the State’s water sector; support the development of strategies to adapt to these impacts under the Safeguarding California Implementation Plan, the Department’s Climate Action Plan, the Climate Change Program Strategic Plan, the California Water Plan Update, Integrated Regional Water Management plans, and FloodSAFE programs, and the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA); and, assist with climate data management and reporting in coordination with other Department of Water Resources (DWR) programs. Minimum Qualifications: Desirable Qualifications: 1) Demonstrated knowledge of climate change and its impacts upon the water sector; 2) demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and write preliminary summaries of the data from technical studies; 3) demonstrated ability to assist in outreach activities to communicate climate change concepts to water sector stakeholders; and 4) strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Special Requirements: 1) possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record in order to drive a state or a personal vehicle to meeting locations and field sites; and 2) be able to travel statewide on day and multiple day trips.
