Title: Summer Technician- 2018 Stream Bioassessment 
Location:  Carson City, NV
Description: As the unseasonably warm temperatures make us wonder about winter and water availability for 2018, the NDEP Bioassessment Program will still be hiring three (3) technicians (interns) for field work this summer, where the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Quality Planning, will be conducting bioassessments of approximately 60 streams and rivers throughout Nevada. The purpose is to monitor the ecological integrity of Nevada’s surface waters through biological, physical and chemical parameters. The assessments will occur throughout Nevada beginning in late May through late August. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain experience in limnology, aquatic ecology and surface-water hydrology.

Minimum Qualifications:  Qualifications for the position are an interest in ecology (preferably aquatic) with a course load in environmental sciences, biology, natural resources or hydrology. More important than experience is the ability to be a strong member of a field team and work well with others. Training provided on field protocols, CPR and defensive driving. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required. Field gear is provided; however, personal camping gear is the responsibility of the selected applicant.

Desired Majors:  Students across all water-based disciplines are encouraged to apply, and more important than experience is the ability to work well with others for extended periods of time.

Hours per week:  40+

Salary & Benefits:   $15.00 per hour plus per diem
