About the role
We are looking for a process engineer to join the Rio Tinto Kennecott Metals Operations Technical Support Team to support the Metals Group day to day process control support, process improvements, risk mitigation, safety improvements, and technologically innovative solutions.
This role is a great opportunity to apply and develop your process engineering skills. This role will report to the Principal Engineer of Byproducts as part of the Metals OTS team. Responsibilities include:
Daily process support including monitoring, trouble shooting, and optimization
Identifying gaps between past performance and plans and implementing solutions to close the gaps
Implement (operationalize) Process Safety Management practices in Metals Group
Reporting of data for process control, production planning, and process optimization
Technical support for 27/7 operation
Identify and implement cost reductions and production improvements
Be a Safety Leader, identify and implement safety improvements and risk reductions
Work in cross functional groups in a matrix organization
Capital Projects execution and support
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines with applicable processing experience may also be considered.
Experience working in processing or heavy industrial environment. Position commensurate with level of experience.
Experience in process control logic and distributed control systems
Skills in statistical and data analysis
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheet/Visual Basic applications
Experience working in technical teams and leading projects
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Knowledge of copper processing principles
Knowledge of high temperature processes
Knowledge of electrochemical processes
Knowledge of processing equipment
Knowledge of project management and execution
Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
